Most of it happens before you get in.
You pay per device, every month, and in a good month you never think about us once. That is the service working — and it is also what makes it invisible. So here is an ordinary Tuesday on a managed fleet, told from our side of the screen.
The patch window nobody attends.
Vendors shipped fixes overnight, and the temptation is to install them the moment they land. We don’t. Updates are staged and released on a written policy, because a patch that breaks the practice-management software at 9am is worse than the hole it closed. By a little after six your back-office desktop has taken its updates and rebooted itself, and the person who sits at it will never know.
The laptop that went home in a bag missed the window. That is normal, and it is handled: it gets picked up the next time it is on the network. A device that keeps missing stops being a statistic and becomes a name on a technician’s list — because when a machine drops off the grid, the alert reaches a person, not a queue.
“It’s doing the thing again.”
Somebody’s machine is slow, or the scanner has stopped talking to the shared folder, or a document opens read-only for reasons nobody can explain. This is the part of IT that never makes the brochure and takes up most of the week, and it is the part small teams quietly ration — because at a break-fix shop, every question has a meter running behind it.
Ours doesn’t. Remote support is unlimited for managed clients during business hours, and our commitment is an initial response inside one business hour. Nobody at your office should have to decide whether a problem is worth calling about. That calculation is how a small annoyance becomes a Friday-afternoon emergency.
A page that quietly never loads.
Someone clicks a link in a browser tab they have had open since yesterday. The site never resolves — web filtering caught the destination at the endpoint, before the request left the building, and the tab just sits there looking broken. They shrug, go back to work, and mention it to nobody.
On the same afternoon, a credential belonging to one of your addresses shows up in somebody else’s breach dump. Dark web monitoring flags it, we force the reset, and the password vault makes the new one somewhere other than a sticky note. None of this arrives as a crisis, because it was caught at the boring stage.
The disk that tells on itself.
Image-level backup runs on the machines that carry real work, so a dead computer is a restore instead of a reconstruction. In the same overnight pass, hardware health gets read: temperatures, memory, the drive that has started to log the kind of errors that come months before a failure, not minutes.
That gives us the one thing hardware failure normally denies you — lead time. We order the replacement while the old machine is still working, at our cost plus a flat margin, with the warranty registered to us so the RMA is our phone call and not yours. The swap becomes a scheduled twenty minutes instead of a lost day.
Where next year’s budget actually gets decided.
Once a quarter we sit down with the real picture: what is under management, how old it is, what got patched and what refused to, which machines are past the point where repair is the cheaper answer, and what is coming that you should be saving for. Windows going end-of-support on a fleet is a project with a date on it, not a surprise in an email.
This is also where we say the unglamorous part out loud — that a full fleet replacement or an office move is project work, quoted separately, not something we quietly absorb and then resent. You should always be able to see the line between the monthly service and the project. That clarity is worth more to a small business than any dashboard.
Every one of those hours costs the same whether anything happened or not. That is the whole argument for paying per device.

What “fully managed” actually means.
You stop deciding when something gets patched, when an antivirus license is up for renewal, or whether a suspicious login is real. We own those decisions inside a documented policy, and we report on the outcomes during your quarterly review. If a device drops off the grid, an alert reaches a technician — not a queue.
What’s not included.
The hardware itself isn’t part of the monthly service. Equipment purchases are billed separately at cost plus a flat margin, and the warranty registers to us so we handle RMAs. Major projects (a full fleet replacement, a Windows version cutover, an office move) are scoped separately as project work. Onboarding new devices after the initial agreement is a one-time per-device setup — the calculator folds it into your estimate.
Service-level commitments
Two more, behind the desks.
Not every business has a server, and not every server needs the same recovery. These two get bought alongside Managed Endpoint often enough that they belong on the same page as it — same policy, same technicians, same quarterly review.
Managed Server
A server is the machine your business notices immediately. It runs the line-of-business application, holds the files everyone opens, and answers the logins. When a workstation dies, one person has a bad morning; when a server dies, everybody stops. So it gets the same treatment as an endpoint and then some: 24/7 monitoring and alerting, a full threat-detection stack, operating-system patching, performance monitoring with remediation, event-log review, and hardware health down to disk, memory, and thermal status.
Backup is deliberately a separate line. A domain controller and a file server that holds last year’s scans do not deserve the same recovery plan or the same bill, and bundling them would hide that choice from you. Pick the recovery method per server — hours or minutes — and pay for what that server’s role is actually worth.
A drive in the rack starts logging the kind of errors that arrive weeks ahead of a failure. Nobody is in the building. The alert reaches the on-call queue, the replacement is sourced Monday morning, and the swap gets scheduled for an evening you choose. The alternative version of that same weekend — the one where the first symptom is Monday at 8am and nobody can log in — is the outage this line exists to never let you have.
Cloud Backup
File-level backup to secure offsite cloud storage, sized in 2TB blocks. It exists for the ordinary catastrophes — a folder deleted in a hurry, a file corrupted mid-save, a drive that gives out, a piece of ransomware that got further than it should have. Recovery is measured in hours, which is the right answer for a production or file server where what you need back is the data, not the whole machine as it stood.
Offsite matters more than people expect. A backup sitting on a drive plugged into the server it is protecting is a copy, not a recovery plan — the same fire, flood, or encryption event takes both. This one lives somewhere else, on purpose.
Someone drags the wrong folder into the wrong place on the way out the door, and nobody notices until Monday. That is not a disaster; it is a Tuesday afternoon that turns into a week of rebuilding, at every business that doesn’t have this. With it, the answer is a phone call and a couple of hours.
