Micro-IT was built on a simple idea: the technology behind a small business should be invisible most of the time, and reachable on one phone number the rest.
Most small businesses we meet have the same story. There's a guy who does the IT — sometimes a real consultant, sometimes a friend who's good with computers. The relationship works fine until it doesn't. A breach happens. A backup fails. The owner finds out the antivirus expired in 2022. The bill that arrives is always more than expected.
Micro-IT was built around a different deal: flat monthly pricing, documented work, one phone number. The owner of the business should know exactly what they're paying for and exactly who's accountable when something breaks.
Modern technology should feel like a quiet partner — protecting your team, keeping your systems running, and giving you one trusted phone number to call when something goes wrong. The role of an IT partner is to remove decisions from your plate, not add to them.
We're headquartered in Paducah, KY and Metropolis, IL — those are the offices our onsite engineers work from. Most of our work happens remotely, so we serve businesses nationwide; onsite work is in person within driving range of either location. Micro-IT has been operating since 2017.
When the answer to a problem isn't obvious, these are the four rules we fall back on.
An IT relationship gets better the longer it runs. We hire, price, and document for a five-year partnership — not a transaction. Most of our clients have been with us for years, and we plan for that to be true of every new one.
Every change is written down before it's made. Tribal knowledge is the enemy of a good IT partner.
No tier-1, tier-2, escalation queue. The same person who answers will own the ticket until it's closed.
Excitement in IT means a fire is burning. The best months are the ones where you forget we exist.
